(This post was written prior to 2016, in a blog entitled “Jubal’s Jottings.”)

I’m a big fan of the Nancy Beach book, An Hour on Sunday. I’m going through that book with a group of students. It is a very insightful book! Last week we were in Chapter 7 – “Well-Ordered Hearts and Lives.” The topic of quieting ourselves in some way before leading worship became quite a discussion item. We concluded that whatever our pattern of discipline, if we don’t find a way to “take in” as worship leaders, we will at some point “run dry” – since worship leading is a very giving, selfless act. SO, my prayer for you would be to have a place to “take in” from God, so that you will be the best leader of God’s people!

Jubal, did you have a rock to kneel at to be quiet? Or was it a tree?
